‘LAWFARE’ –  The strategic use of legal proceedings to intimidate or hinder an opponent’ AN Modern ELECTION TACTIC Being Utilized More and More Often, Against Opponents Referred to as ‘POPULIST’ CANDIDATES-So far, France, Romania & Turkey Have Used Lawfare in 2025! (Can This Really Be Happening)?!

This ‘weapon’ was used against Donald Trump, but thankfully, none of it stuck! The electorate ignored these efforts and voted him back into office. Fortunately, the lawfare waged against him did not prevent him from being a candidate—unlike in other countries, as the following information demonstrates:

Marine Le Pen Sentenced!!

Marine Le Pen, the French far-right leader, has been sentenced to four years in prison, with two years suspended and two years to be served under home detention, and a €100,000 fine for embezzlement of European Union funds234+1 [5]. Additionally, she has been banned from running for public office for five years, effectively disqualifying her from the 2027 French presidential election unless she successfully appeals the ruling

Fortunately for the USA and the populist world, the use of ‘lawfare’ failed to prevent President Trump from being re-elected in 2024—despite being wielded to outrageous extremes by The Swamp and their minions. Thankfully, in the USA, criminal convictions do not disqualify someone from running for office (which is somewhat ironic, given that a conviction can prohibit individuals from engaging in far less significant activities). My guess is that the Founding Fathers were well aware of how the law could be weaponized to eliminate worthy opponents, which is likely why they ensured that convictions wouldn’t bar candidates from seeking office.

So far, in 2025, news has emerged of various political candidates across multiple countries being prevented from running for future office through a relatively new tactic known as ‘lawfare.

The most recent case on the world stage is Marine Le Pen, who, on Monday, 31 March, was announced guilty of embezzlement. As a result of this conviction, she has been prohibited from running for office in the 2027 French Presidential elections.

Prior to her, a populist leader in Romania, a man by the name of Calin Georgescu, was suddenly detained by police in Romania and was said to have been facing multiple criminal charges – according to Wikipedia:

Calin Georgescu Arrested

Calin Georgescu, a far-right Romanian presidential candidate, was arrested on February 27, 2025, as he was registering his candidacy for the presidential election. He was charged with attempting to overthrow the constitutional order and membership in a neo-fascist organization. Georgescu has denied all wrongdoing and continues to contest the decision to bar him from the election rerun scheduled for May.

Georgescu ran as an independent candidate in the 2024 Romanian presidential election; his views have been described as pro-Russian, anti-NATO, and far-right, and he has been described as a right-wing populist, ultranationalist, and conspiracy theorist.

Apparently, prosecutors in Romania have stated tat one of the charges involved: Prosecutors said one of the charges involved attempted “incitement to actions against the constitutional order”. (Sounds an awful lot like BS to me)…

I don’t know anything about Georgescu, but anyone who is labelled as ‘far-right’ or ‘ultra-right-wing’ or any other ad-hominem reference to anyone who opposes the ‘left’ appears to be a populist, (which is a positive trait to have for the everyday man or woman).

Turkey has used a similar tactic with regards to an ‘opposition candidate’:

Turkish Opposition Leader Arrested

Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, a prominent opposition leader in Turkey, was arrested on March 26, 2025, as part of a corruption investigation. This arrest has sparked widespread protests and led to the detention of nearly 1,900 people, with the Turkish government rejecting foreign criticism of the move

As per an internet search about the former Brazilian President, Javier Bolsonaro, was the target of lawfare back in 2022:

Javier Bolsonaro of Brazil

Jair Bolsonaro, the former President of Brazil, will stand trial for allegedly attempting to stage a coup after his 2022 election defeat. The Supreme Federal Court of Brazil unanimously ruled that Bolsonaro and seven of his associates must stand trial on five counts, including attempting to stage a coup, involvement in an armed criminal organization, and attempting to abolish the democratic rule of law. The trial could start as early as this year, and if found guilty, Bolsonaro could face up to 40 years in prison.234+1

Bolsonaro has denied all charges, claiming they are politically motivated and designed to prevent him from running for president again in 2026. He has also stated that he is the victim of “political persecution” and that the charges are “grave and baseless

I feel certain that there have been many more uses of ‘lawfare’ against political opponents…

(As it happens, since writing the above comment, I came across the following post in Telegram shortly afterwards by Amir Tsarfati):

To name a few: Marine Le Pen in France, Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil, Imran Khan in Pakistan, Matteo Salvini in Italy, Donald Trump in America, Călin Georgescu in Romania, and Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel. The deep state around the world is in panic mode and is using its judicial arm to manipulate and persecute the leaders that the people want.
