This is not an exhaustive list and is only provided for information and entertainment purposes only – It is NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE =(NFA)!
I promised my viewers that I would provide a reference source for common terms and acronyms which are used within the ‘Crypto Space’ – so that they will be able to decipher more of what the crypto content providers are referencing during their shows, so here you go!
The first few I’ve provided myself and then I decided to save valuable time by asking ‘ChatGPT’ for some assistance – (just for the record, I use it with a great deal of trepidations, as I know there’s potential for a sinister outcome over time)…
I will be constantly editing this article as more information comes to mind:
DeFi: Decentralized Finance
CeFI: Centralized Finance
TradFi: Traditional Finance
FUD: Fear Uncertainty Doubt = When negative info is spoken about by media/content providers.
HODL: Hold On For Dear Life, (i.e. Do NOT Sell)..
FOMO: Fear Of Missing Out = Buy, buy, buy – what people do when they think they’re ‘late’ to the party..
‘Diamond Hands’ = Holding on to your bag, no matter how much the market fluctuates – (XRP Holders)
‘Paper Hands’ = The opposite of ‘Diamond’
‘XRPS’ Pronounced ‘ZERPS’ = XRP tokens – mentioned a lot by XRP Bags’ crew!
Cold Wallet = Self custody – a fuller explanation:
Cold wallet
A cold wallet is a device or method for storing cryptocurrency private keys offline, making it almost immune to online attacks and ideal for long-term storage.Β Cold wallets are hardware devices that keep private keys in a physical device disconnected from the internet unless necessary, offering top-level protection and ensuring maximum security against hacking, phishing, and malware.
Examples of cold wallets include Ledger Nano X, D’Cent, Trezor Model T, and SafePal S1. These devices support multiple cryptocurrencies and offer features such as Bluetooth connectivity, USB-only connectivity, and air-gapped options.
Cold wallets are preferred by individuals, businesses, and governments for secure storage of digital assets.Β They provide a higher level of security compared to hot wallets, which are connected to the internet and are more vulnerable to online threats.
- Ledger Nano X: Supports over 1000 cryptocurrencies, offers Bluetooth connectivity, and is highly secure.14
- Trezor Model T: Supports over 1000 cryptocurrencies, uses USB-only connectivity, and is known for its high security.16
- SafePal S1: Supports over 1000 cryptocurrencies, uses air-gapped connectivity, and has a medium security level.16
Cold wallets are also featured in the film “Cold Wallet,” a thriller that explores the consequences of cryptocurrency scams and the desperation that can follow financial loss.
