“Those words are not words of somebody who is suicidal,” the widow of John McAfee, Janice, told reporters outside of the Barcelona jail where he late software security guru apparently took his life on Wednesday shortly after the Spanish high court approved his extradition to the U.S.
One UK-based cousin is quoted by the Sun as also saying “if he did take his own life, we may never know why.”
A court spox claimed it could take “weeks” for the autopsy to determine the cause of death, which McAfee’s lawyer claims “has been like pouring cold water on the family”.
“Nobody expected it, he had not said goodbye.”
